Leadership Development for Strategy Execution

Property Industry/For Purpose

Industry: Non-Profit / Property

Focus Area: Leadership development, team cohesion, organisational culture

Key Outcome: Stronger cross-state collaboration, aligned leadership behaviours, and measurable progress toward a high-performing team culture

Region: Australia

The Property Industry Foundation (PIF) brings together Australia’s property and construction sector to address youth homelessness. The organisation’s leadership team—spanning multiple states—was committed to its mission but needed a stronger, more cohesive foundation to deliver its ambitious goals.

PIF’s CEO, recognised that while the team was highly capable, competing priorities, differing leadership styles, and geographical dispersion risked slowing progress.

The Challenge

  • Creating consistent leadership behaviours and decision-making approaches across states

  • Building trust and psychological safety to address difficult topics openly

  • Embedding collaboration habits that would sustain beyond workshops into daily operations

The Intervention

Future Focus Consulting designed and delivered a four-part Leadership Development Program for PIF’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT), combining systems psychodynamics, behavioural science, and practical leadership tools.

Program Elements:

  1. Leading Self – Exploring personal and team values, group dynamics, and responses to ambiguity and conflict.

  2. Team Effectiveness – Using diagnostic tools like the Struqtures assessment and Core Conflictual Relationship Theme (CCRT) analysis to identify functional strengths and address unhelpful patterns.

  3. Leading Others – Developing safe environments for leadership, mapping leadership archetypes, and building emotional capital through trust, pride, hope, aspiration, and passion.

  4. Leading Change – Building adaptive leadership capability to navigate uncertainty while sustaining alignment to PIF’s mission.

Workshops integrated creative exercises (drawings, metaphors, and reflective storytelling) with structured governance and action planning, ensuring outcomes were both experiential and operational.

The Results

  • Clear articulation of shared team values that inform decision-making across the organisation

  • Greater self-awareness of individual leadership styles and their impact on group dynamics

  • Measurable increase in psychological safety within the ELT, enabling more candid and constructive discussions

  • Agreed roadmap of collaborative behaviours and associated governance

  • Stronger cross-state relationships, translating into faster coordination on national initiatives
